Woodcraft kids partners with several South Bay elementary schools to provide a fun and educational afterschool care expirience to their students. If you'd like to bring Woodcraft Kids to your local elementary school/childcare facility, reach out and we can begin a conversation about turning this into a reality!
Woodcraft Kids afterschool enrichment classes will introduce your child to the core fundamentals of woodworking and carpentry through the use of our 100% non-electric hand tool kits in an environment that prioritizes safety and creativity! They will learn basic building & math techniques, while developing fine motor skills by completing projects from our guided sample project rosters. Once a basic level of tool use and concept design is demonstrated, students will be encouraged to design their own unique project ideas!
All beginners will embark on their woodworking journey by creating either a classic spin top toy, or a simple toy car. These two fun and engaging projects will provide a foundational understanding of our core tools and how to use them safely and effectively.
After completing their first project, students may choose from a curated selection of guided projects which will allow them to develop the skills needed to eventually propose their own original ideas. Sample projects include birdhouses, boats, flowers, jewelry boxes and more; limited only by imagination.
Throughout the program, students will gain hands-on experience with traditional hand tools such as a carpenter’s brace, eggbeater drills, try squares, coping saws, hand saws, hammers and C-clamps. This program not only promotes creativity and craftsmanship in a screen-free environment, but also builds lifelong skills in problem-solving, precision, and perseverance.
